US Forces begin new round of airstrikes against Taliban

WASHINGTON: To counter Taliban militants in Afghanistan, the United States military forces have started a new aerial bombing campaign in Northern Afghanistan against the Taliban.
The military issued a statement on Tuesday, saying a new anti-Taliban air campaign has been advanced to northern Afghanistan near the border with China and Tajikistan to destroy insurgent revenue sources, training facilities, and support networks.

The statement quoted General John Nicholson, the commander of United States Forces-Afghanistan, “There will be no safe haven for any terrorist group bent on bringing harm and destruction to this country,” adding that United States-led airstrikes have also disrupted Taliban funding sources and safe haven, which resulted in the loss of more than $30 million in revenue for the Taliban since the bombing campaign started in November 2017.
