Uproar in JK Assembly after Speaker Kavinder Gupta blamed Rohingya refugees for Militant attack

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Saturday witnessed a huge uproar after Speaker Kavinder Gupta blamed Rohingya refugees for the militant attack on Army camp in Sunjwan, Jammu.
Kavinder Gupta said, “The incident took place due to the presence of Rohingyas in the area.”
After Speaker’s controversial; remarks, the entire Opposition stormed into the Well of the House and demanded an apology from him.



Earlier, BJP legislators raised anti-Pakistan slogans in the House, following which the House was adjourned for next 15 minutes.
National Conference legislator Mohammad Akbar Lone also raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans to counter BJP MLA’s anti-Pakistani slogans.
Meanwhile, National Conference has distanced itself from the remarks made by MLA Sonawar-Akbar Lone inside Legislative Assembly and condemned it.
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir-Omar Abdullah has endorsed his president-Farooq Abdullah’s stand on the issue. Omar via tweet said, “Totally endorse my Party President’s views outlined in these two tweets. The party will say nothing more on this issue”.



National Conference spokesperson-Junaid Azim Mattu said that NC has the clear stand over Akbar Lone’s remarks, saying the party disowns and condemns his remarks.
Junaid via tweet said, “Just spoke to @JKNC_ President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sahib. Dr. Sahib and the entire party is the unequivocal stand that NC MLA from Sonawari Mr. Akbar Lone has spoken out of turn and his slogans in the Legislative Assembly are completely unacceptable to the party.”
