Two ‘Jaish-e-Muhammad’ militants killed in Dooru encounter: Police

Srinagar, Mar 24 (KNS): Two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants were killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Shastragam village in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said on Saturday.
Police said that some exchange of gunfire took place on late Friday evening in the village following which the area was cordoned off by the forces.
They said that two militants were trapped during the cordon who fired upon the security forces, ensuring the gunfight in the area.
Both the militants trapped in the village were killed in this morning, police said.
The gunfight that continued till this morning ended without any collateral damage, says police, adding that based on the seizures made from the spot and other incriminating materials collected so far have confirmed that the slain militants were a part of JeM outfit.
The police also informed that both the militants killed in the encounter were foreigners.
Director General of Police (DGP), Shesh Pal Vaid that the bodies of slain militants were recovered along with two AK47s, pistols, grenades and arms and ammunition.
He also praised the forces personnel for their success in the operation. (KNS)
