Damascus: The Turkish-backed rebels continued their rapid advance in Syria’s Afrin region, capturing several sites from the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG). Al-Masdar News reported on Monday.
Led by the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the Turkish-backed rebels reportedly captured two towns and four strategic hilltops from the YPG forces on Monday.
According to pro-opposition activists, the two towns were identified as Aliciya and Ballursak; these are located near the Maydanki Reservoir and Fittira Hills.
As a result of this advance, the Turkish-backed rebels now overlook the key town of Sharran from its western axis.
