Srinagar, October 09: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. Police said that “On 08-10-2018, Police Awantipora received a reliable information that the active militants HM namely Adil Ahmad Bhat R/O Malangpora Pulwama has handed over a huge amount to one OGW namely Rouf-ul-Islam Wani, son of Ab. Aziz Wani of Batpora Ladhoo Khrew for distribution of same among other militants and OGWs for carrying out terror activities in the area.”
“On receipt of this information, a case FIR No. 75/2018 U/S 17,18,20,21,38,39 and 40 ULA(P) Act was registered at P/S Khrew and investigation initiated,” police said. “During the course of investigation, Rouf-ul-Islam Wani of Batpora Ladhoo Khrew was apprehended and during questioning disclosed that he had received huge cash from active militant Adil Ahmad Bhat of Malangpora Pulwama for distribution of the same among the other militants and OGWs of HM outfit for raising the necessary support structure for the said organization and also for luring youth towards joining militant ranks,” police said.
“The accused disclosed that the cash amount was handed over to Mohd Maqbool Wani, son of Gh. Qadir Wani of Batapora Ladhoo, Shakeel Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohd Wani of Ladhoo and Musaib Aziz Gojree, son of Ab. Aziz of Namblabal Pampore, the OGWs of HM,” police said, adding that all the three OGWs were also apprehended and subsequently cash amounts were recovered at four different places.
“The investigation conducted so far reveals that the amount so recovered was intended to be used for the purpose of terrorism. Further investigation is in progress,” police added.
