Six decade old bridge collapses in North Kashmir

Kupwara, July, 3: Over a six decade old bridge in North Kashmir’s frontier district collapsed during intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

No pedestrian or any vehicle was passing through the bridge at the time of collapse. Officials said that the bridge had been closed for vehicles.

“The bridge located at Regipora connected Kupwara town with Regipora collapsed due to recent incessant rainfall,” said an official.

He added that bridge had already been closed for any movement, a claim refuted by locals who said that no barriers were placed on the extreme points of the bridge. “Till yesterday, people used to pass through the bridge,” they told CNS.
