Pune: Kashmiri Students and Professionals discuss safety concerns with top cop

About 100 students and professionals, hailing from Jammu and Kashmir met with Pune Police Commissioner yesterday to express their concerns regarding their safety in the city.

Few days back two Kashmiri students were assaulted in Haryana, the Kashmiri students and professionals in Pune had sought an appointment of a “dedicated nodal police ofiicer” to address their issues.

The interaction was organised by Sarhad, an NGO in Pune working on a mission to provide education to the Kashmiri youth and bring them to the mainstream. Hundreds of students from Jammu and Kashmir are pursuing education in Pune at present.

A few days back two students from Kashmir studying at the Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh were allegedly assaulted by a group of 10-15 men on Friday. The assault took place when the duo- Aftab and Amjad were returning back after offering Friday prayers.
