ISLAMABAD: On Friday, Pakistan High Commissioner to Canada Tariq Azim Khan met Alex Neve, Secretary General of Amnesty International in Canada to brief him about the brutality on innocent Kashmiris carried-out by Indian-occupational forces.
Sources say Tariq Azim Khan briefed Alex Neve on the situation in Indian-held Kashmir where hundreds of civilians, particularly youth were blinded by the used of pellet guns by the Indian forces.
He added Pellet shotguns have been the primary cause for blinding, killing and wounding thousands of people in occupied Kashmir and violate international standards under United Nations code of conduct.
The high commissioner’s meet with amnesty secretary general came in view of the Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau forthcoming visit to India, the high commissioner told Alex Neve to convince prime minister Justin Trudeau to take up the issue of human right abuse in Indian-held Kashmir with India.
Moreover, secretary general informed the high commissioner that it is regrettable that India is not allowing Amnesty International and other international human rights organizations to visit parts of Kashmir. which are blocked by the Indian forces, however, he assured high commissioner that Amnesty International will request prime minister Justin Trudeau to take up the human rights abuse in Kashmir with the Indian government on his visit to India.
