Militants shot dead abducted cop, Imam injured in militant attack

Srinagar, July 6, CNS: Militants on Friday shot dead an abducted policeman in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. Constable Javaid Hamid Dar was abducted by militants on Thursday evening when he was present near a medical shop at his native Vehil village of Shopian.

Three to four militants according to police bundled Dar in a Sentro car and took him to an unknown destination. His body was recovered from a roadside in adjacent Kulgam district.

Dar according to reports was the security guard of former SSP Shopian Shalinder Mishra.

Meanwhile, suspected militants fired upon a civilian morning at Parigam village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district injuring him cirtically.

The victim has been identified as Molvi Muhammad Ashraf Thokar who according to police is an Imam at a local Masjid.

Thokar who hails from Bijbehara area has been hospitalized in Srinagar for advanced treatment.

SSP Pulwama Chowdary Muhammad Aslam said that militants fired a volley of bullets on the legs of Imam. “We have starting investigating the matter,” he said.
