Power projects were given to the National Hydroelectric Power Cooperation by the previous authorities as a “goodwill gesture” said party’s General Secretary Peerzada Manzoor.
“We are enough confident that the Chief Minister would force upon the Government of India to return the power projects which were given to the National Hydroelectric Power cooperation as a goodwill gesture by the past authorities. The responsibility is now upon us to ensure people are accorded their due rights,” said PDP General Secretary.
He also said that small and inadequate amount of power in Kashmir Valley is unreassuring and the previous authorities who ignored this very important sector are responsible for the sufferings of the people in the state.
The party said the people’s woes due to the insufficient power supply in valley especially during peak winter months is deeply alarming and merits concern.
Mansoor while addressing various people’s delegation said that the PDP since the formation of the government in the state has been prioritizing its efforts to ensure proper supply of electricity. He added the previous authorities had ignored the reformation of this important sector in the state in such a pitiless way that the present situation has become pathetic and worrying.
Mansoor said that the people shall have a major sigh of relief this year with 24 hours electricity as the transmission line having an estimated 1000 Mws of power would be made functional. “we are looking forward to witness the new revolution in power sector as the Chief Minister is making hectic efforts to throw open the transmission line in October this year,”
