Srinagar: Kashmiri Students studying in different colleges of Chandigarh hold a candle march on Saturday evening for rape and murder incident in Kathua. The march started around 9 PM in which hundreds of Kashmiri Students took part and raised their voice against the brutal rape and murder of an eight-year-old child in Kathua Jammu.
Under the banner of Kashmir Students Union Chandigarh, the march started from Doaba group of colleges Mohali to Rayat Bahra University Mohali. Students demanded justice for Asifa, the girl who was gang-raped and murdered in Jammu and Kashmir.
Farman Safvi , the General Secretary of KSU Chandigarh lead the protests along with other members of the Union which were later joined by many other Kashmiri students who are studying in different colleges of Chandigarh.
“We want the government to take a strict and immediate action against the criminals involved in the brutal rape and murder of our sister Asifa , we will keep raising our voices till the culprits are brought to book”, said Farman Safvi, General Secretary KSU Chandigarh.
The students were seen holding the placards which read “justice for Asifa”, “Hang the killers”, “Is Asifa not India’s daughter”.
“How can one be a mute spectator while seeing such heinous crime taking place in society. A real human being cannot remain silent at the times when the society is undergoing such barbaric and gruesome situations, we demand justice to prevail at an earliest”, said Adil Bhat, Vice-chairman KSU Chandigarh.
The students protested to show solidarity with Asifa’s family and demanded strict action against the perpetrators of such heinous crime.
It is pertinent here to mention that The protests against the brutal crime are being held across the country by holding rallies, candlelight marches, and conferences.
