Bandipora, July 7: A day after the brutal murder of Hajin woman, police Tuesday claimed that militants had actually arrived in the premises of victim to loot the branch of Jammu Kashmir Bank.
Pertinently, Shakeela Begum wife of PDP worker Abdul Majeed Dar of Shahgund Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district lost her life after an armed man slit her throat.
A top police official told news agency CNS that the real purpose of militants was to loot the branch of Jammu Kashmir Bank located in the premises of victim’s family.
“Initial investigation have revealed that militants in two groups arrived near the two branches of Jammu Kashmir Bank. The branch located in the premises of victim’s family was locked and when two militants failed to broke into the bank, they entered into the victim’s house. The victim became target because she confronted the militant. Though militant tried to fire upon her, but the pistol didn’t function,” the official said adding the sophisticated weapons were with another group that was far away from the house.
The official claimed that militants in Hajin Belt have been facing cash crunch and they are desperate to loot the bank branches. He added that militants involved in the killing of woman have been identified and the case has almost been cracked.
“We will soon make the facts public,” he said.
