A militant outfit, Jaysh Al-Islam issued a statement on Saturday night that accused the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) of launching a chemical weapons attack on the town of Douma in the East Ghouta region.
“The Assad regime and its allies carry on with their crimes,” Jaysh Al-Islam spokesperson, Hamza Birqdar, told Al-Hadath TV on Saturday evening.
In response to Jaysh Al-Islam’s accusations, the state-owned Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) denied the army carried out a chemical attack in Douma.
“Jaysh Al-Islam terrorists are in a state of collapse and their media outlets are making chemical attack fabrications in an exposed and failed attack to obstruct advances by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA),” SANA reported, citing government officials.
Syrian opposition activists have also accused the Syrian Army of carrying out the attack, adding that as many as 110 people have been killed by the attack.
