Indian Security forces occupy 1390 buildings in Jammu and Kashmir

JAMMU: As many as 1390 government and private buildings are under occupation of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir chief minister revealed this in a reply to a query raised by MLA Langate Er. Rasheed during the question hour of the Legislative Assembly.



Mehbooba Mufti, who also holds the portfolio of the in charge of the home department, in her written reply informed the House that 1094 private and 296 government buildings are under the occupation of forces In Jammu and Kashmir.
“Around 385 private buildings are occupied by Army while as 709 are occupied by other security forces in the state,” Mehboooba in her written reply said.
She informed the House security forces paid Rs. 1.62 crores as rent per month against the buildings occupied.



MLA Langate had sought details regarding the structure against which the rent is paid by forces.
Chief Minister in her reply said that information relating to security camp location and other related issues was “extremely sensitive matter” as it reveals the location and strength of security units across the state, adding that details should remain classified. The steps were taken for the vacation of government and private buildings on a priority basis, she informed the House.
