Gunfight rages in Armpora Sopore, Internet suspended

Srinagar, Sept 14: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces after CASO was launched on the late night of Wednesday in Arampora area of Teliyan Mohalla area of North Kashmir’s Sopore.

Reports said that a joint team of Police and Army’s 22RR launched cordoned and search operation in Arampora area of Teliyan Mohalla after getting specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.

After searching for hours contact was established with militants after closing into the targeted spot.

SSP Sopore Javaid Iqbal told that a brief exchange of firing occurred between militants and government forces after contact was established, he further said that firing has stopped right now but tight cordoned is still intact.

Meanwhile, the internet has been suspended in Sopore for precautionary measures. Till this story was filed no fresh exchange of firing was going on.
