Government bars Vice Chancellors of KU and JU from taking any policy matter decisions

JAMMU: Government of Jammu and Kashmir has directed the Vice Chancellors of Jammu and Kashmir University not to take any decision relating to important policy matters.
The term of Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Professor Khurshid Andrabi and Vice Chancellor Jammu University RD Sharma have already come to an end and VC Kashmir University has approached Court to extend his term.


Umang Nirula, Principal Secretary to Governor, has shot a letter vide number PS (a)/2018 to both the Vice Chancellors directing them not to take any decision relating to important policy matters.
The communiqué reads: “In the context of the tenure of VC, University of Kashmir having already come to an end and that of VC Jammu University shortly coming to an end, I am desired to convey directions that no decision in regard to any policy matter or relating to selections/appointments to various senior vacant posts (teaching/non-teaching) should be taken without seeking the prior written approval from the office of the Chancellor.”
A copy of the order has already been sent to Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for the briefing
