Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police have lodged an FIR against a group of students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) for raising “anti-national” slogans.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri, Kishore Manhas has said that the students gathered in the university campus on Monday morning and started raising “anti-national slogans like ‘we want freedom’ and ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.”
SSP said the FIR has been lodged under RPC sections 154A and 124 A.
“The investigation is on and arrests will be made in future,” he said.
According to reports, Kashmiri students along with the students from Poonch raised slogans to show sympathy for Eisa Fazili.
“The Police didn’t arrive in the campus. It is being said that the police has been identifying the students and FIR has been lodged against those, who, as per police, asked the students to boycott the classes. Nobody asked us to boycott the classes. We fail to understand as to why the FIR has been lodged,”a student told Kashmir Monitor.
Professor Mohammad Asger, Dean Students, said, “In the morning, prayers were held in absentia, but later everything was normal.”
“We didn’t write anything to Police. I didn’t come across the news that FIR has been lodged,” he said.
Eisa was killed along with two associates in a gunfight with government forces in Hakoora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. He was studying engineering at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University before he joined the militant outfit. Thousands of people participated in the last rites of Eisa Fazli in Srinagar.
