KASHMIR: People in Shiganpora village-native place of Manzoor Ahmad Dar are extremely happy after their ‘Pandav’ made it to 2018 IPL edition.
J&K batting sensation Manzoor Dar (Pandav) bagged his maiden IPL deal of Rs 20 lakh from Kings XI Punjab, leaving behind an International player Parvez Rasool and the other national player Umar Nazir. Parvez and Umar failed to attract a single bid during the 2018 IPL auction.
At his native place, Pandav’s friends and relatives are distributing sweets to celebrate the happiest moment in their life that made the whole village proud, people are visiting Pandav home for the best wishes.
However, having brought their son into extreme poverty. Manzoor’s parents burst into tears while talking about their son.
‘Right from his childhood, he was interested in cricket. Although our village has no playground, he had a passion to achieve something,” said Mukhtar Ahmad Dar, Pandav’s father surrounded by neighbors and relatives.
In other room, Misra Begum seems to be happy, but the very next moment she weaps while narrating the struggles that his son (Manzoor) had to face to achieve his goal.
“We lived a life of hardships. We could hardly support him financially. He worked as a woodcutter and as a security guard to meet his expenses,” she said.
Manzoor’s cricket journey so far has been full of achievements, with career-best score 211, Manzoor has scored 40 centuries till now.
