Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday asserted, “Kashmir is an integral part of India,” and strongly advocated the need to deal with separatists with an iron hand. At the same time, he extended his support to security forces to win hearts and minds of people of India.
“We are one, and will always remain so. Entire Bharat is our own and we all belong to Bharat. It is essential that we carefully nurture and safeguard this sense of belonging,” he said
Bhagwat said that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir affects entire India and we need to remember that this is the land of Acharya Abhinavagupta, who was one of the greatest proponents of Shaiv philosophy. He said Shiv bhakti is one and there cannot be any differentiation between one Shaivism and any other.
“No doubt we are a vast country, having different sects and beliefs, even food habits vary from region to region and as also the forms of prayer. But don’t forget a common thread runs through us. In fact, the DNA of people living in Indo-Iranian plateau is one and it has been proved by a recent study of scientists. So, at least now, we, as a country, need to rise above discords and shun regional and caste-based identities,” Bhagwat stated.
According to reports, Bhagwat was speaking after inaugurating the three-day Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Maha-Utsav, titled ‘Sapta-Sindhu’ at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on Thursday. The programme was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre (JKSC), Nagpur Chapter.
