Digest this: Mehbooba among the poorest CMs with assets valuing Rs.55 lac only

NEW DELHI: The Association for Democratic Reform (ADR) on Monday revealed its report on India’s 31 chief ministers,  which also included assets held by each of them and criminal cases registered against them.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has topped the list owning the assets valued over Rs 177 crores, whiles as Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar is the “poorest CM” with assets valuing just Rs 27 lac.

Following the Naidu on the list id Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu with total assets valuing Rs. 129 crores. while Punjab chief minister, while chief minister of Punjab rounding up the number third with assets worth Rs. 48. 31 crores.
K.C. Rao chief minister of Telangana and Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangham owning assets valuing Rs. 15.15 crore and Rs. 14.50 crores make to number fourth and fifth respectively.

Six out of ten richest CMs are from the Congress and the rest belong to TDP, BJD, and SDF, out of 31 CMs in India, 25  are crorepati with assets crossing Rs 1 crore, while not a single chief minister belonging to BJP  makes to top ten, despite having a government in 18 states.
West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress leader, Mumta Banerjee has assets worth Rs 30 lac, the second poorest CM, followed by Manik Sarkar, who has assets valuing Rs 27 lac.
People Democratic Party and chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir were among the poorest three CMs with assets valuing Rs. 55 lac.

The report also revealed 35 percent of Indian CMs have criminal cases registered against them, according to the report. “Out of the all 31 chief ministers analyzed from state assemblies and Union territories, 11 (35 percent) chief ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves,” the report mentioned.
Topping the list in serious crimes is Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadanavis with 22 cases, followed by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan with 11 cases registered against them.
