Cricket: New Zealand eye whitewash against Pakistan

Willington: Can Pakistan end the five-match ODI series with something positive to take into the T20s, or will a sizzling New Zealand hammer the final nail in the visitors’ coffin?

Pakistan team is all set to take on New Zealand in the fifth and final One Day International (ODI) tomorrow (Friday) with intent to avoid a whitewash.

The Green-Shirts are 4-0 down in the series with final chance to avoid the clean–sweep. Sarfraz and his mates had a  stiff session in Willington and for the first time Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Amin joined the training as they arrived in New Zealand for T20 series.

However, Shoaib Malik stayed in the hotel for rest. Malik was struck by a ball on the back of his head while taking a run, during the first inning of the fourth ODI against New Zealand on Tuesday.

Reports said, Shoaib Malik is certain to be rested for the final  ODI, while Aamer Yamin is expected to replace him.

Former skipper Wasim Akram in an interview pledged team management to include Aamer Yamin in the playing XI.

Pakistan will play the final ODI match of the tour tomorrow with three Twenty 20 Internationals to follow.

Pakistan expected XI: Fakhar Zaman, Imam ul Haq, Babar Azam, Muhammad Hafeez, Haris Sohail , Sarfraz Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Aamer Yamin.
