Jammu: The National Conference and PDP on Monday batted for dialogue between India and Pakistan to bring peace, normalcy to border tensions between the two nations.
BJP leaders demanded resolution of condemnation on Pakistan. But National Conference legislators were of the opinion that the condemnation would further provoke Pakistan who has been resorting to heavy shelling along the Line of Control and International border.
The BJP MLAs continued to stick to their demand of condemnation, NC legislators said that the resolution should come through Mehbooba Mufti as she is the Chief Minister of the state.
PDP leader Javed Beigh said that passing a resolution against neighboring country will not yield anything as people of Jammu and Kashmir will continue to suffer due to contineous ceasefire violationns. Beigh suggested that the assembly should jointly make an appeal to Pakistan to bring an end to the contineous cross-border shelling.
Deputy speaker Nazir Ahmad khan Gurezi suggested that if the whole house was concenred about the cross-border firing, then there should be no objection in bringing a resolution of condemnation against the neighboring country.
The Jammu and Kashmir government will now bring a resolution requesting both India and Pakistan to maintain peace on borders, however, the government did not specify when it intended to bring it in.
