NEW DELHI: The BJP on Monday has termed Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti’s decision to remove Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu from her council of ministers a “setback” to PDP-BJP alliance and said, this decision would widen the gap between the two allies.
A top BJP leader praised Mr Drabu’s role in coordination between the two allies and said he was often the bridge between the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Centre over a host of issues.
“It is a setback to the alliance,” the BJP leader, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said. He also recalled that Mr Drabu played an important role in the formulation of the GST. NDTV reported.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday dropped finance minister Haseeb Drabu from the council of ministers over his remarks that Kashmir “isn’t a political issue” but a society with “social issues.”
The Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti wrote a letter to Raj Bhavan informing the governor NN Vohra about the decision.
The development comes after Drabu while speaking at an event themed ‘Kashmir: the way forward’ in New Delhi on March 9, said that Jammu and Kashmir should not be seen as a conflict state or a political problem, but as a society with social issues.
