BJP Rejects Mehbooba’s proposal of India-Pakistan Talks

Jammu: A day after Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti pledged for talks between India and Pakistan to end the series of violence in the state, her alliance partner, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rejected the proposal saying dialogue with Pakistan will hit the morale of security personnel fighting militancy in the state.

“Whole nation stands with the security forces against Pakistan. Talks at this time with Pakistan will only hit the morale of Indian security agencies fighting to contain militant activities and bringing about peace”, BJP’S  chief spokesman of state, Sunil Sethi said.
Sethi said the Central government takes a call on talks with Pakistan and there was no scope of interference by others.

Dialogue can be considered if Pakistan “pulls back” from supporting terror-related acts in the region, and also the environment is not good, he said.
On Monday, Mehbooba Mufti via tweet said dialogue with Pakistan is necessary to end the bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Dialogue with Pakistan is necessary if we are to end bloodshed (in the state),” she said.
“I know I will be labeled anti-national by news anchors tonight but that doesn’t matter. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering. We have to talk because war is not an option,” she added.
Mehbooba Mufti’s appeal came after militant-led attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir, as well as increasing conflict on Line of Control between Indian and Pakistani troops.
