An Indian soldier was injured after militants opened fire on army’s search party in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.
According to sources, army’s 31-Rashtriya Rifles and special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Paribal area of Hajin, early Monday after inputs about the presence of militants.
The militants who were already hiding in the area opened fire after a search party approached them, leaving an army commando identified as Gobind Singh injured.
According to reports, the militants escaped from the site after exchanging fire.
Meanwhile, locals took to streets and staged protests to help the militants flee. (PTI)
