APHC PaK Chapter pays tributes to Mirwaiz Farooq, Khawaja Lone

Srinagar, May 23: All Parties Hurriyat Conference PaK (Pakistan-administered Kashmir) Chapter and the Kashmir Liberation Cell organised a function at Islamabad, Pakistan to pay tributes to ‘Shaheed-e-Millat’ Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq and ‘Shaheed-e-Hurriyat’ Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone on their martyrdom anniversaries. Rich tributes were also paid to all martyrs of Kashmir.

A statement issued to GNS said the function was presided over by Prime Minister of PaK Raja Farooq Haider while as resistance leaders who were present on the occasion include JKLF spokesperson Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Muslim Conference senior leader Saghir Chugtayi, Peoples Party Secretary-General Faisal Rathore, Kashmir Liberation Cell Secretary and convener APHC for PaK Chapter Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Hurriyat leader Syed Yousuf Naseem, Ghulam Muhammad Safi and others.

The speakers in their address while terming the ‘Shaheed-e-Milat’ as a great religious, social and a political leader said the Mirwaiz Farooq spent his entire life in raising the issues of people’s political and social aspirations. “Mirwaiz Farooq worked hard to press for the right to self-determination of oppressed Kashmiris and preferred to spend many years in jail and remained rock solid on his commitment towards Kashmiri people and nation,” the statement said.

They said that Mirwaiz Farooq always highlighted the genuine aspirations from the pulpit of Kashmir’s spiritual centre Jamia Masjid. Apart from being a religious leader, Mirwaiz Farooq left no stone unturned to ensure Kashmir issue is highlighted on all forums available to him.

The speakers also paid rich tributes to Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone stating that he was one of the front-runners of Kashmir’s political struggle and his farsightedness and vision for Kashmir would always act as a torchbearer for those espousing the Kashmir cause. “Khawaja Lone never surrendered before the military might and was martyred at a gathering at martyrs’ graveyard Srinagar on May 21, 2002,” they said.

They strongly condemned the “new wave of oppression” unleashed by government forces in every nook and corner of Kashmir that includes caging resistance leaders, harassing and arresting the youth stating that efforts will continue on all fronts for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.

The speakers urged the world community to take serious note of “war crimes” being committed by government forces in Kashmir that include “unabated human rights violations” and to build pressure on Delhi to resolve the issue as per people’s aspirations.

Meanwhile, on the directions of APHC (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior leader of the amalgam Mukhtar Ahmed Waza visited Bijbehera hospital to inquire about the health of those injured in the grenade attack, the statement said.

Another Hurriyat delegation comprising Sufi Mushtaq Ahmad, Peer Ghulam Nabi, Farooq Ahmed Sudagar visited SMHS hospital Srinagar to inquire health status of the injured shifted from Bijbehara. (GNS)
